On 17 April 2026, at the Kanjiža City Hall a meeting was organized that brought together key stakeholders, including representatives of the Palić-Ludaš Public Enterprise, DTD Senta, and the Municipality of Kanjiža, with the aim of discussing optimal solutions for wetland restoration in the target area.
The first results of the wetland revitalization modelling were presented by a representative of the BioSense Institute, Dr. Maria Kireeva. A central topic of the discussion was the assessment of natural depressions in the vicinity of Arteški Bunar and their potential role in seasonal water storage. The analysis focused on the possibility of retaining water during winter and spring periods, which could later be utilized during drought conditions. This approach was recognized as a promising Nature-based Solution for improving local water management and ecosystem resilience.
During the meeting, stakeholders emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between ecological restoration and agricultural protection. It was agreed that preventing the flooding of agricultural land remains a priority. Accordingly, a consensus was reached on the optimal water level.
