Tracking Pollinators and Biodiversity in Sunflower Fields

Hedda Ørbæk from NINA joined BIOS team to kick off the fieldwork for SONATA Case Study 1, which focused on three main activities: conducting a sunflower pollination limitation experiment, installing wildlife cameras to monitor pollinator activity throughout the flowering season, and surveying habitat types and flowering plants in the (semi)natural patches adjacent to sunflower fields across Vojvodina included in the experimental setup. The valuable data collected from these activities will contribute to the development of the SONATA spatial tool, designed to identify optimal locations for Nature-based Solutions that enhance selected ecosystem services, such as soil carbon storage, pollination, and crop yield.
