Soil sampling in Vojvodina is done!

Our team conducted extensive fieldwork across 24 forest locations and 38 grassland locations. At each site, we established three sampling sites for composite soil sample collection, following the SoilBON methodology—the global Soil Biodiversity Observation Network. Each composite sample was carefully assembled by mixing subsamples from nine points within a 30×30 m square, resulting in a total of 186 soil samples across grassland and forest clusters.

Over 26 days of fieldwork, our dedicated team of 23 researchers covered 5,067 km, gathering high-quality data that will provide valuable insights into soil biodiversity and ecosystem health. A revised soil map of Vojvodina will be included into the SONATA habitat type map, that the team is currently developing.
