Exploring Grasslands and Forests: Ground Truthing in Action

Ground truthing for habitat typing across Vojvodina began in May, when BIOS team had the pleasure of welcoming Borja Jimenez Alfaro, professor of botany at UNIOVI. Together with Borja, local team explored a variety of grassland and forest sites near Novi Sad, refining the ground truthing protocols and testing the QField app, which serves as the primary tool for field data collection. This hands-on collaboration not only ensured the accuracy of habitat surveys but also strengthened SONATA methodologies for capturing detailed ecological data across the region.
